Why Join?
Harvard wants you! Joining (or renewing) your membership in the Club is an excellent way to maintain your connection with Harvard University. The Club is the official Harvard alumni organization for all Harvard graduates living in the Southern California area, and is recognized as such by the HAA.
In Southern California we are privileged to have one of the largest and most active Harvard Clubs in the country. Our large membership base ranges from Los Angeles County to Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura Counties. Events sponsored by club members take place throughout the region. We offer three or more programs per month, many in conjunction with other Ivy League Clubs.
If you are already a member - or have been a member - you are acquainted with the wide array of programs sponsored by the Club. Offerings have included movie studio screenings; internet education programs; art gallery showings; tours of interesting California institutions such as JPL; concerts, opera, theater events; wine tastings; community service opportunities, not to mention featured lectures from Harvard's President, faculty members, and administrators. In addition, Club members are invited to events sponsored by other Harvard professional school clubs, and other Ivy League clubs. A partial listing of recently completed and/or events planned in the future.

The Club maintains an active web site at www.harvard-la.org, which is open to all members and local alumni. The site provides event details, registration forms, Club involvement opportunities, community service activities, and recent graduates information. You can even sign up or renew your membership on-line by linking to an HAA site through the Club's website. We also provide a convenient method for event or program sign-ups - all right on our Club's easy-to-use website. In addition, our Club members are entitled to attend events offered at over 185 Harvard Clubs throughout the world through the HAA's Crimson Pass program.
The Club is also about giving back to the community and to Harvard. We have a vigorous community service outreach program.
Our nearly 600-member strong Schools Committee, whose activities are supported entirely by member dues, recruits and interviews about 1,600 applicants to the College each year. (If you are interested in becoming an interviewer, please email the Schools Committee Chair, Jonathan Baskin at jnbaskin@pacbell.net.) In support of community service, the Club awards two community service fellowships each summer to Harvard undergraduates residing in Southern California who pursue a worthwhile community service project. Thanks to the generosity of our club members, we sponsor a Harvard Prize Book program each year at approximately 200 local high schools.
